A Distant Light (out now on Flaming Pines) is music shaped by the coastlines of New Zealand. NZ-based Montano are Michael Upton and Shanan Holm who together work with synths, field recordings and guitar, to craft slowly evolving works where small surprises and idiosyncrasies bubble to the surface, dissipate and return. This is an album which crafts a space for stepping back and slowing down. It asks for concentrated listening, and rewards you with shimmering dreams carved from liquid time.
